African Post-War Education & Reconstruction (African POWER) is a Canadian charitable organization (Registration No. 84178 0679 RR0001). We were established to help people in developing nations with food and basic amenities and to conserve and protect their environment and wildlife.

Our mission is to emPOWER communities to employ modern technology as a tool for sustainable development and environmental protection

We emPOWER indigenous communities to learn about, appreciate and protect the biodiversity in their surrounding and use them to obtain food and income in a sustainable way.

Aims and Objectives |

Our aim is to provide modern technology and to train and educate communities in africa to document the wildlife in their environment and to record the traditional beliefs and practices that their elders before them have used to conserve this environment.

How we do it |

Film, computer and broadcast technology is used to record wildlife, traditional beliefs and cultural practices as they affect the environment, social order, justice and economic development. Documentary films, educational print and new media produced by the communities are used as educational tools for the younger generation and other communities in the region through community radio, newspapers and mobile cinema.

We support the communities by promoting activities such as sports and culture. We are also very active in promoting science education in schools and among community youth.

As a vounteer based organization, we receive donations of money and materials from ordinary Canadians like yourself. We work with volunteers in Africa who are members of the communities we assist as they know the needs of the communities best. Our board of directors include Canadians born in the areas we work in and have deep knowledge of the local culture and languages.
